The project Healthy & Happy in Dutch started! The Kick Off in Malden on 1 May started on a beautiful sunny day.
A bit disappointing for me… Early in the morning I did groceries for a very healthy Kick-Off Green Smoothie as a healthy start for a healthy project. After a long train journey (the train connection between Eindhoven and Nijmegen is not always quick), I had lunch at my parents first and I decided to put the bottles in the fridge. Of course… I forgot to put them in my bag before I left to Malden.
Arina and Natascha, it may be a cold comfort but you can make my Kick-Off Green Smoothie yourself with the following recipe for 1.5 liter:
Whole plant of parsley
5 slices of ginger
50-100 grams of spinach
A few celery sticks
little bit of water to make it more fluid
(I wanted to add 2 apples, and a cucumber more but it didn’t fit in anymore)
Why should you drink this smoothie other than it is fresh and delicious?
Parsley is an excellent tonic for your blood vessels. Parsley root contains calcium, B-complex vitamins, and iron, they all nourish the glands that help regulate the uptake of calcium. It is a source of magnesium and calcium, and potassium your body needs. There’s more: Parsley is high in vitamin A, beta-carotene and vitamin C. Because of the vitamin K in it, your bones will love it too. What a boost of nutrients!
Ginger inhibits infections, grapefruits contain a lot of vitamin C, spinach with its chlorophyll energy, cucumber for hydrating your body, and an apple a day keeps the doctor away, the fibre pectin, and all vitamins will do their work.
To your health!
